Tejas Patel

Industrial designer · Sydney, NSW

I design objects with electronics inside them, and the systems around them. In 2026 that has meant systems for a bespoke framing workshop in Sydney: a shop-floor board, now archived, and a 3D configurator and a new ERP, both launched on 27 October 2026.

Experience

  1. October 2025 to now

    The Framing Project

    Product Designer · Sydney

    • Joined on the CNC and the bench. After the ownership changed in February 2026, took on the workshop's systems at the request of Nic. From May, architect and builder of the new platform, with InTechual Solutions.
    • Reframed, the new website, configurators and ERP, launched on 27 October 2026. Before launch I replayed 2,235 comparable jobs from six months of past orders through the new pricing engine, co-authored with InTechual Solutions.
    • Designed a 3D framing configurator wired to the pricing engine and built it with Claude Code from my written briefs, so clients can design and price their own piece.
    • Wrote the staff guide by doing every task on the test system first. Doing that for the 24 September version, 50 pages, led to ten fixes and sent 17 items to the owner. The fifth edition, of 22 October, runs to 83 pages.
    • Built MirrorFactory OS with coding agents, a shop-floor board for iPads with one card per work-order line (January to July 2026). The floor kept its TV, and the board is now archived.
    • Since July 2026, build and audit nights on a Raspberry Pi 5 with Claude Code: I write the plan first, then a separate audit reads what Claude Code built.
  2. January to October 2025

    Freelance

Designer: Warp Drive, from prototype to a unit sold in my own shop · Sydney

  3. April 2023 to December 2024

    Evolution Displays

    Industrial designer, part-time · Sydney

    • Worked on retail displays and commercial products, designed for manufacture.
    • Renders for client approval, DFM for cutting and thermoforming, and the BOMs, specifications and technical drawings behind them.
  4. January to May 2022

    sysIDEA Lab, IIT Gandhinagar

    Industrial designer (intern) · India

    • My B.Des degree project, hosted by the lab: a belt-driven arm with series elastic actuators and a clutch for the parallel spring, built from 3D-printed gears and pulleys and acrylic links in an aluminium-extrusion rig, and tested on an optical breadboard.
  5. June to July 2020 and 2021

    SunRobotics Technologies

Industrial designer (summer intern) · Ahmedabad, India

    • CloroBot, from the 2021 internship, a stackable robot chassis for STEM education in Indian universities: laser-cut plates carrying a Raspberry Pi 4, a LiDAR and ROS mapping, from parts the company already sold.
    • Worked on an FPV quadcopter.
  6. October 2020

    Inovora India Design Studio

Design intern. Pinchy won the COVID-19 category of the Inovora India Challenge, Second Life of Packaging, 2020 · Ahmedabad, India
